BOOK REVIEW: Admit The Horse by P.G. Abeles

A very well written account (more fact than fiction) of what SHOULD be the most controversial Presidential election in our nation's history (moreso, even, than the election of George W. Bush in 2000). In "Admit The Horse," Abeles weaves the story that the mainstream media refused to report as it happened: the story of an inexperienced community organizer's rise to the highest office in the land, and all of the tactics of questionable legality that helped him to get there.

The story is both colorful and matter-of-fact. It reads like an oral history of current events, as it probably should, given that the author was there through much of the inspiration of the tale.

At this time when we have a second chance to hope for real change in the upcoming election ... and the candidate "O" finally has a record to run on (albeit not a very successful one) ... this book should be required reading for every registered voter before going to the polls this November.

A fantastic telling of a fantastic story that. I highly recommend it.

Help the Indiana GOP defeat Democrats who voted for healthcare reform

A message for the Indiana Republican Party Chairman, Murray Clark, forwarded without compensation or endorsement as a courtesy by Average Joe American.

TIRP1 TIRP2

Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans,

Last night the House passed the Senate's health care reform bill by a slim 219-212 margin.  I don't have to tell you that this bill was an assault on the Republican principles of smaller government, lower taxes and more individual freedoms.  I don't have to tell you that this bill has a price tag we can't afford.  I don't have to tell you about all the back room dealings and underhanded parlor tricks the Democrats used to get the bill passed.  You've heard about all of it for months now.

While we should still be telling our friends and neighbors why this bill was such a raw deal for Hoosiers, it's time to put our words into action.  We must work harder than ever to defeat those in Congress who voted in support of this bill.  Rep. Joe Donnelly was for this bill, then he was against it, and at the last minute yesterday he voted for it.  Rep. Baron Hill has played the same game at every step in the process: Pretend to have concerns and then ultimately vote for the bill.  Rep. Brad Ellsworth, who will be running for U.S. Senate this fall, tried to hide from the public as much as possible and avoided taking a stance for as long as he could.  He, too, voted to pass this bill multiple times.  And we all know that Reps. Andre Carson and Pete Visclosky are reliable liberal votes for the Obama and Pelosi agenda.

The Indiana Republican Party is committed to defeating all of them in November.  If you are as outraged as we are, help us send a message to these Congressmen that Hoosiers won't stand for their lack of leadership.

There is a long way to go between now and November, but we won't forget that Joe Donnelly, Baron Hill and Brad Ellsworth turned their backs on Hoosiers last night.

Sincerely,
JMC-Sig-Revised

In Selecting Men For Office...

In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect of the candidate -- look to his character ... It is alleged by men of loose principles or defective ways of the subject that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men "who rule in the fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness." -- Noah Webster

Representative Deal:

I want to applaud you for having the courage to stand up for country above all else in calling for Mr. Obama to settle the eligibility issue once and for all. This is clearly a matter that Chief Justice Roberts and his team may never get to decide -- whether by their own choice or not -- and a matter that must be settled. What this country needs is more Representatives who are willing to stand up for that which matters most -- the sovereignty of this great nation.

This is not a matter of getting Mr. Obama out of office. It is a matter of ensuring that he is eligible to hold the office.

Thank You, sir.

An Evening With Mitch

I received the following email this morning. Governor Daniels, who is in his last term and refuses to say that he could be a contender for national office in 2012, is appearing at an event to raise funds for his Aiming Higher PAC.

This PAC appears to have been formed between Governor Daniels' first election to office and his first inauguration, and the homepage of the site has not been updated since.

To me, this is one more indication for hope that Indiana's Governor will run for higher office in 2012.

The Balloonist

Patriot HumorFound this in The Patriot Post:

The balloonist

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be an Obama Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

Mitch Daniels 2012

Book ReviewI find it interesting that, just two days ago, the following video was added to YouTube by the Mitch Daniels 2008 Reelection (Indiana Governor) campaign. If you aren't familiar with Mitch Daniels and Indiana, he won election in 2008 by a very large margin, and the following video was a very early video from his reelection campaign.

What I find interesting is that, if Mitch is firm about not running for President in 2012, why would he want to focus on and remind people on his hugely successful campaigns (2004 and 2008), and his real live interaction with the people? Sorry, Mitch, but I'm still not convinced that you won't be running in 2012.

Book Review: American Savior by Roland Merullo

Book ReviewFive months ago, the United States of America inaugurated our forty-forth president. Many have their doubts about his qualifications and even his eligibility, some even have doubts about his fundraising tactics during the campaign. Others have virtually bowed down to worship him as the candidate of Hope and Change, so much so that he has become widely known as the "Obamassiah" -- as if he were some great savior for our country.

But what if the Messiah really did return to earth and run for the highest office in the land? What if America really did find her savior in the form of none other and the Son of God, Jesus Christ? Someone with undisputeable morals, pure motives, and the power to fulfill every one of His campaign promises?

Author Roland Merullo takes us on a trip of discovery and enlightenment as he explores this question in his thought-provoking and entertaining American Savior: A Novel of Divine Politics.

When a child falls from a third-story balcony, dies, then lives to tell about it, the parents credit a man who breathed life back into their child then vanished. The media and others play it off as a hoax. But when a hospitalized young child suddenly appears cured of her terminal illness, and she and her parents credit a mystery visitor who laid His hand on her and spoke to her some words of encouragement, the media begins to become more interested in this "Good Visitor" who keeps popping up in the right place at the right time.

When the Good Visitor, much like Jesus Christ did in the New Testament, calls upon the most unlikely of society to help Him prepare and run His surprise presidential campaign, American Savior takes off without looking back. What if Jesus Christ had to address today's tough issues of abortion, war, healthcare, and taxes? Would he have some kind of divine insight to tackle the problems we face today?

Most importantly, would America embrace the return of this Risen Savior? Or would we treat Him today as He was treated almost two thousand years ago by the powers of that time?

Author Roland Merullo answers those questions, and many more, in this fictional glimpse into American politics. American Savior is a must read for anyone who has ever pondered these thoughts, as well as anyone who just loves to dabble in politics. Roland Merullo does not disappoint.

Mitch Daniels for President

Mitch DanielsNow that should be a rumor-starting title, shouldn't it?

Has anyone else noticed that second-term Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has been appearing on the national news shows quite a bit lately? Just something to keep our eye on, I think.

During his 2008 re-election campaign, the Republican Governor called it Hoosier's last chance to cast a vote for him for public office. But the former OMB director and most successful Governor in Indiana history is just the kind of person this country needs occupying the White House in 2012. But don't take my word for it.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but this is one Hoosier who would love to cast a ballot for Mitch Daniels in 2012.

Random Thoughts...

Random thoughts I've had lately.

My new book is available, and as I work on recording the Audiobook version of it, I find myself running across several things that I think I could have done just a little differently. Ways that I could have expanded the story. I remind myself constantly that I was working under the strict timeline of National Novel Writing Month while I wrote it, but I didn't have such a deadline while I edited it and prepared it for publication. I could have taken just a bit more time to do a better rewrite of the book.

It's my first book, and I'll have to be happy with it. I plan to start writing the sequel in May -- when any deadlines I have will be self-imposed and, therefore, flexible. I have some great ideas for the sequel, and feel that the storyline really has some great places to go in book two.

Speaking of books (and this post will be about more than books, but while I'm on the topic...), I'm enjoying a reread of Dean Koontz's Frankenstein saga, as I eagerly anticipate the arrival of the third book in the tale. I had to order the third book from Amazon.co.uk, as the book doesn't appear to have any planned release date in the U.S. yet. It's a sad thing, really, as I know that many, many readers are eager to learn what happens next to Deucalion and Victor Helios.

Stay tuned for my review -- I expect the book to arrive sometime in mid to late April.

Presidential SealI've been paying a slight bit of attention to the many ways in which (I think) Barack Obama is screwing up America. I've been watching, and I've been wondering why, as a country, we allow the person holding the highest office in the land to run for reelection. I find myself wondering if much of what Barack Obama does is designed to earn himself reelection.

It seems that from the moment a President takes the Oath of Office, he is running for reelection. Then, upon winning reelection, the moment he takes his second Oath of Office, he is considered a Lame Duck because someone else is already running to succeed him. It seems to me that our government would be much more effective and efficient if we immediately eliminated the possibility of reelection for our President and lengthened his only term to six years. This would enable the man elected to be the leader of the free world to actually do what is best for the country without fear of polls and second terms.

In addition, I think we should immediately enact term limits for the Senate and the House of Representatives. We have men and women (I could name some, but I won't) in Washington right now that have served in the Senate for so long that they are beholden to too many people to actually be effective. I voted for John McCain for President, but frankly, he needs to leave the Senate. Instead, he is already running for reelection on the heels of his failed White House bid and two years before his term is up.

Highway TrafficOver the past week or two, it seems that my commute to work has been quite dangerous. Traffic on Indy's Interstate 70 can be quite dense at times, but lately it seems that cars are moving at sixty and seventy miles per hour with mere feet between them and the cars that surround them.

I'm also starting to think that my car is invisible. It seems that other motorists frequently decide to place their car where mine is, whether I want them to or not. At least once a morning I find that if I don't stay alert and nimble, I'm likely to be (literally) pushed aside. Come on, people, can we really be in such a hurry all the time?

MoneyAnd one more thing, and I think this one could be a product of the way our country has been headed over the past two months or so. What is it with everyone who expects everyone else to pay the price for their mistakes? I'm not just talking about things like bankruptcy and welfare, or panhandling (which has become even more common in Indianapolis recently). At work, I find people who come in and expect my company to actually help them to pay for services that they have to pursue elsewhere because we are unable to provide them. People who have actually tried to falsely claim that my company was responsible for damage to their property -- and when called on the carpet about it, they don't even apologize for their deception after confessing their guilt.

Come on, America! What is happening to us? Is this really what we want to become? A nation of people who would rather sit back and let others do for us? There is a billboard in Indianapolis for Citizens Gas that shows a picture of a Black (is that politically correct now?) woman saying, "What are you doing to lower my gas bills?" Really?!? I see that stupid billboard every morning on my way to work (maybe that's what is distracting other drivers as they cut me off), and every morning I answer, "How about turning down the stinking thermostat!" Really, whose responsibility is it? I manage my utility bills by managing my utility use. That's the way I was brought up. Not thinking that someone else was going to foot the bill for me!

On Second Thought...

...I find it encouraging that history has been made this month. On November 4th, I was certainly disappointed to see that the candidate I supported for President was defeated. I was concerned by the things that the Democrat candidate was hoping to accomplish during his time in the White House. I was angry that our mostly Conservative Supreme Court did not stand on the Constitution and order Barack Obama to present an indisputable copy of his birth certificate to put the rumours to rest once and for all, in one way or another.

But looking back over the past month, I have found reason to be happy with the recent election results. I am excited to see the first man of African-American descent elected to such a prominent position -- to see a black man rise to a height that no black man has ever risen to before. I am anxious to see just what he can do for his party, for his country, and by extension, for the world. In a position of stature, he will shape and define policy, motivate and encourage the populace, even hand pick the future leaders of country.

Yes, I am greatly encouraged, motivated, and excited to see the great things that Michael Steele will accomplish as Chairman of the Republican National Committee. What? You thought -- really? You must be new here.

No, I am still terrified of the damage Barack Obama can cause this country -- and the world -- from within the Oval Office. But I now have a renewed hope that, under the skilled leadership of Chairman Steele, the GOP can and will do what it takes to retake Congress and the White House and, eventually, the damage caused by Obama can be healed.

Shame on you for even thinking anything different.

Book Review: Dead Heat by Joel C. Rosenberg

Book ReviewJoel C. Rosenberg has outdone himself with Dead Heat, the final episode in his political thriller series. If you aren't up to speed yet with the rest of this series, you might want to catch up with my reviews of the first four books in the series:
I found each of the five episodes very difficult to put down, but Dead Heat was virtually impossible to get away from. I found myself up late into the night, not wanting to set the story aside, until I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer.

When the United States finds itself targeted by an unknown enemy, all hell literally breaks loose in this incredbile conclusion to the story that began with the nearly prophetic The Last Jihad. I can't think of much to say without spoiling the entire story, and this story is really one that deserves to be read by everyone. Whether you're a fan of Christian fiction, theology, thrillers, suspense, or political drama, Dead Heat (and all of it's predecessors) will certainly please you.

If you really want to know more about this story -- if you really need more reason to read it -- then drop me an email and let me know, and I'll be happy to share more details of the story with you. Of course, you'll only be cheating yourself.

This is absolutely the best novel I have read this year (sure, the years is still young, but I bet that statement will still be true six months from now). Do yourself a favor and order a copy today.

The Day The Constitution Died

You've no doubt heard of The Day The Music Died. Well, today could very well become known as The Day The Constitution Died.

Supreme Court turns down case challenging Obama's citizenship
New Jersey man claimed Obama was not a 'natural born citizen' and could not be president

 Tribune Washington bureau
10:36 AM EST, December 8, 2008

The Supreme Court today turned down an emergency appeal asking the justices to consider whether President-elect Barack Obama is a "natural born citizen," and thereby, eligible to become president.

Read the full story here .

I'm just discouraged that the Supreme Court would ignore this issue, rather than hearing it and putting the matter to rest one way or the other.

Cult of Personality

I cannot understand how this could possibly be good for America. From Wikipedia:

A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.

A cult of personality is similar to general hero worship, except that it is created specifically for political leaders. However, the term may be applied by analogy to refer to adulation of religious or non-political leaders.

Generally, personality cults are most common in regimes with totalitarian systems of government, that seek to radically alter or transform society according to revolutionary new ideas. Often, a single leader becomes associated with this revolutionary transformation, and comes to be treated as a benevolent "guide" for the nation, without whom the transformation to a better future cannot occur. This has been generally the justification for personality cults that arose in totalitarian societies of the 20th century, such as those of Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

The criticism of personality cults often focuses on the regimes of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, CeauÅŸescu, Kim Il-sung, and Kim Jong-Il. During the peak of their regimes, these leaders were presented as god-like and infallible. Their portraits were hung in homes and public buildings, with artists and poets legally required to produce only works that glorified the leader. Other leaders with such cults include Eva Peron of Argentina and her husband Juan.

What Is Up With This???

President ElectI have two observations about this picture. First, what is up with this podium sign? The Office of the President Elect? You're kidding me, right? I don't recall ever seeing a President-Elect of the United States of America with a podium sign meant to make him look Presidential. But what else can we expect of someone who had his own Presidential-style seal made to be used during the campaign?

My second observation: The President-Elect of what? If he were to have such a Presidential looking podium sign, shouldn't it include the phrase of the United States of America? Why would the Country be completely left out of the equation? Is it that the United States of America is nothing more to Mr. Obama than a tool to achieve the power he so desperately desires? I fear that Mr. Obama is going to be a self-centered, narcissistic (redundancy intended) individual who expects the country to serve him rather than him serving the country.

Oh, and one more observation: notice how the word PRESIDENT is in a larger font than the word ELECT? Kind of the way OBAMA was bigger than BIDEN on all those campaign signs. Why? Because Mr. Obama clearly puts himself first, above all things.

None of this should surprise us, really. After all, Mr. Obama had to remind himself in his first press conference today that the United States only has one President at a time, and right now, that man is George W. Bush.

This man is forcing me to break my moratorium on political writing during the rest of November, as I promised on Wednesday. I really should be working on my NaNoWriMo project.

Ask Mitch McConnell to Accept Lieberman Into GOP Caucus

Independent Senator Joe Lieberman from Connecticut has been a faithful supporter of John McCain throughout the Presidential campaign, because he put the needs of his Country over partisan politics. Senate Majority Leader (and Democrat) Harry Reid, angered by Senator Lieberman's support of John McCain, has threatened to throw Lieberman out of the Democrat caucus and strip him of his committee chairmanships.

Senator Lieberman is in talks with Senate Minority Leader (and Republican) Mitch McConnell about joining the Republican caucus in the Senate. This would reduce the lead the Democrats have in the Senate, as well as reward Senator Lieberman for standing up for his country in support of John McCain.

Call, write, or email (or better yet, do all three) Senator McConnell and ask him to accept Senator Lieberman into the Republican caucus!

Senator McConnell:

I am a registered Republican in the state of YOUR STATE HERE who supported John McCain for President. I am concerned with the results of the Presidential election, and am writing you to ask you to please stand up to the Democratic domination in Washington immediately by accepting Senator Joe Lieberman into the GOP Caucus.

Senator Lieberman has been a loyal supporter of John McCain, putting the needs of his country ahead of the desires of his party. When Senator Lieberman appeared at campaign stops around the country with John McCain, thousands of other Republicans cheered him on as a great American who serves his country first.

Senator Reid is now threatening to eject Senator Lieberman from the Democratic caucus. This is the GOP's opportunity to reduce the liberal leadership in Washington by one and to reward a great American who had shown fierce loyalty to our candidate for President.

Please embrace Senator Lieberman as a member of the Republican caucus!

Thank you for your humble service to this country.
