On Second Thought...

...I find it encouraging that history has been made this month. On November 4th, I was certainly disappointed to see that the candidate I supported for President was defeated. I was concerned by the things that the Democrat candidate was hoping to accomplish during his time in the White House. I was angry that our mostly Conservative Supreme Court did not stand on the Constitution and order Barack Obama to present an indisputable copy of his birth certificate to put the rumours to rest once and for all, in one way or another.

But looking back over the past month, I have found reason to be happy with the recent election results. I am excited to see the first man of African-American descent elected to such a prominent position -- to see a black man rise to a height that no black man has ever risen to before. I am anxious to see just what he can do for his party, for his country, and by extension, for the world. In a position of stature, he will shape and define policy, motivate and encourage the populace, even hand pick the future leaders of country.

Yes, I am greatly encouraged, motivated, and excited to see the great things that Michael Steele will accomplish as Chairman of the Republican National Committee. What? You thought -- really? You must be new here.

No, I am still terrified of the damage Barack Obama can cause this country -- and the world -- from within the Oval Office. But I now have a renewed hope that, under the skilled leadership of Chairman Steele, the GOP can and will do what it takes to retake Congress and the White House and, eventually, the damage caused by Obama can be healed.

Shame on you for even thinking anything different.

The Platform of Change

SOAPSOAP {Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer}:
FOR TODAY'S FULL READING, CLICK THE TITLE LINK ABOVE | ABOUT SOAP

SCRIPTURE
17-20 "Don't be naive. Some people will impugn your motives, others will smear your reputation—just because you believe in Me. Don't be upset when they haul you before the civil authorities. Without knowing it, they've done you—and Me—a favor, given you a platform for preaching the kingdom news! And don't worry about what you'll say or how you'll say it. The right words will be there; the Spirit of your Father will supply the words.

OBSERVATION
If we do the talking, God will supply the words.

APPLICATION
Today is a pivotal moment in history. For whatever reasons you might think, the world changed today. It changes every four years, thanks to the peaceful transition of power that our found fathers built into the United States Constitution.

But change is not always a good thing. With such a change of leadership as we have seen today, there can come some very uncomfortable change for some. With the talk of sharing the wealth, fully legalizing abortion, placing certain restrictions on some outlets of the media, creating protected or preferred classes for certain groups -- some of the change we might expect to see could prove very uncomfortable for some.

But we have been charged to stand up against the kind of change that could prove harmful. We have been charged with "preaching the kingdom news" when given a platform. Our Saviour has directed us to speak for Him, and promised to give us the right words.

We have also been charged by our forefathers to stand up to tyranny wherever it might rear it's ugly head. Just as the revolutionaries did over three centuries ago, we must stand up for the freedoms we have been guaranteed by our forefathers and our Heavenly Father.

We must speak up when we feel the message we have to deliver must be heard, whether that message be one from the Father or the fathers of our country. I for one am not convinced that change is always a good thing. In fact, in many cases, certain kinds of change can be exactly the worst thing we could hope for.

Today, our country changed. Today, the world changed. Today, I did not change. I am still a proud American veteran who will stand up and fight for what my country stands for. I am still a devoted follower of Christ who will preach the kingdom news from any platform, regardless of what kind of change might come my way.

PRAYER
Father, the fate of the world rests in Your mighty hands. I know that the second coming of Your Son has been scheduled since the beginning of time, and that there is nothing one man or a million men can do to change that. Change can only effect me in the earthly realm, for I know that my eternity lies with You.

My Inaugural Prayer

prayerFather, today marks a pivotal moment in American history. In just a few short hours, a man will be sworn in as the forty-fourth President of the United States that is unlike any President before him. In many more ways than just race.

This man rocketed to the top of the political ladder through the Chicago political machine, Lord, and has had regular dealings with people of questionable character. He himself, according to many, is a man of questionable character. In fact, Lord, he is a man of questionable citizenship.

My prayer, Father, as we embark upon the next four years (at least, and hopefully no more) of the Obama era, is that I am completely wrong about this person. I pray that he is not the socialist that he appears to be; that he does not have the impact he has stated he would have on abortion; that he does not receive the chance to Robin Hood his way into the history books through his share-the-wealth schemes; that he does not turn tail and run from Iraq into Afghanistan, leaving behind an unstable fledgling democracy to fail.

I pray, Lord, that he is not the scheming charlatan that he has appeared to be to those who have not been blinded by his charisma. I pray that the reasons he refuses to present his birth certificate for public scrutiny are not because it wouldn't pass muster. I pray that the birth of the Obama era might not coincide with the death of the United States Constitution.

Lord, I pray that I'm wrong about this man, and that America won't struggle for decades after he leaves office to repair the damage he could so easily cause.

God bless America is so much more than a meaningless phrase right now, Father. It is a fervent prayer.

God, please bless America!

AMEN

The Obama Commercial THEY Won't Let You See

From WorldNetDaily:
WorldNetDaily.com
Supremes to Take Up Eligibility Again
Fox, CNN, MSNBC and others refuse ads questioning Obama's eligibility

On Friday, January 16, a conference is scheduled at the U.S. Supreme Court during which justices will consider behind closed doors—again—taking up a case that could finally put to rest the questions about whether Barack Obama qualifies to occupy the Oval Office under the Constitution's requirement that he be a "natural born" citizen.

This is your last chance to be heard before the Inauguration!

Watch the Video
Lingering questions continue to leave a cloud over the impending presidency of a man whose relatives have reported he was born in Kenya and who has decided, for whatever reason, not to release a bona fide copy of his original birth certificate in its complete form.

When WND columnist Janet Porter tried to purchase airtime for a 60-second commerical publicizing the eligibility issue, CNBC, MSNBC, Headline News, CNN and Fox all refused to sell her airtime. The ad to be broadcast is available on YouTube.

Janet—who was trying to buy airtime on behalf of her organization, Faith2Action.org—recently raised some of the more significant impacts that could result should eligibility questions continue without answers:

"What if an impostor from another country ran for the presidency and won?" she questioned. "What if the media blocked any news of his birthplace and citizenship? What if the media censorship even blocked paid advertising which tried to expose it?

"What if no one had the courage to challenge or verify it? What if he was inaugurated illegally? What if the military had to answer to a commander in chief who was illegitimate? What if every law he signed was invalid?"

And, she wonders, "What if it all happened on our watch?"

Here's How YOU Can Help:

You can make sure the Supreme Court justices have a piece of your mind when they review a case on Friday, Jan. 16 that challenges the eligibility of Barack Obama under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution.

Because the Supreme Court justices do not accept faxes or emails or telephone calls, there is only one way to make your voice heard in time — overnight delivery of your letters.

In December, a similar WND campaign sent more than 60,000 letters by overnight courier to the nine Supreme Court justices.

To make the process of writing to each of the nine justices simpler, more convenient and less expensive, WND has an easy way to FedEx the following letter sent on your behalf to each justice in time for this Friday's hearing:

Supreme Court of the United States
One First Street, NE
Washington, DC 20543

Dear Associate Justice ___________:

If the Constitution doesn't mean precisely what it says, then America is no longer a nation under the rule of law.

A nation no longer under the rule of law is, by definition, under the rule of men.

Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution clearly stipulates "No person except a natural born Citizen" shall be eligible to serve as president of the United States. That statement has clear meaning, and the Supreme Court of the United States is one of the controlling legal authorities in ensuring that the Constitution is enforced – even if doing so may prove awkward.

Throughout American history, the Constitution has served as the very foundation of our system of governance, and the U.S. Supreme Court has been the ultimate arbiter of what that Constitution means. With the Supreme Court scheduled to hold conferences Jan. 9 and Jan. 16 to one of many cases challenging Barack Hussein Obama Jr.'s eligibility for the office based on Article 2, Section 1, I urge you to take this matter most seriously – and judge it only on the clear, unambiguous words of the Constitution: A president must, at the very least, be a "natural born citizen" of the United States.

If you agree that this clear constitutional requirement still matters, the Supreme Court must use its authority to establish, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that Barack Hussein Obama Jr. qualifies for the office under that standard.

There is grave, widespread and rapidly growing concern throughout the American public that this constitutional requirement is being overlooked and enforcement neglected by state and federal election authorities. It's up to the Supreme Court to dispel all doubt that America's next president is truly a natural born citizen of the United States.

I urge you to honor the Constitution in this matter and uphold the public trust.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Cole

The Day The Constitution Died

You've no doubt heard of The Day The Music Died. Well, today could very well become known as The Day The Constitution Died.

Supreme Court turns down case challenging Obama's citizenship
New Jersey man claimed Obama was not a 'natural born citizen' and could not be president

 Tribune Washington bureau
10:36 AM EST, December 8, 2008

The Supreme Court today turned down an emergency appeal asking the justices to consider whether President-elect Barack Obama is a "natural born citizen," and thereby, eligible to become president.

Read the full story here .

I'm just discouraged that the Supreme Court would ignore this issue, rather than hearing it and putting the matter to rest one way or the other.

The Democratic Primary Debates Relived

Obama CabinetJust a quick observation:

Mister Obama's Cabinet is starting to look pretty familiar, and I don't mean that it looks like a third Bill Clinton administration. We've seen many of these people on stage together before, haven't we?

Barack Obama
Bill Richardson
Hillary Clinton

Let's see, what was that?

Oh, yes, I remember, it was the Primary Debates for the Democratic Primary.

If that's how it's done now, imagine what a John McCain Cabinet would have looked like:

Secretary of State Fred Thomspon
Secretary of the Treasury Mitt Romney
Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Huckabee
National Security Advisor Rudy Giuliani
Secretary of Commerce Ron Paul

Supreme Court to Review Candidate Citizenship Arguments

This could prove to be of great significance:

Case challenging candidacy set for 'conference' of justices

A case that challenges President-elect Barack Obama's name on the 2008 election ballot citing questions over his citizenship has been scheduled for a 'conference' at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Conferences are private meetings of the justices at which they review cases and decide which ones to accept for formal review. This case is set for a conference Dec. 5, just 10 days before the Electoral College is scheduled to meet to make formal the election of Obama as the nation's next president.

The Supreme Court's website listed the date for the case brought by Leo C. Donofrio against Nina Wells, the secretary of state in New Jersey, over not only Obama's name on the 2008 election ballot but those of two others, Sen. John McCain and Roger Calero."

Cult of Personality

I cannot understand how this could possibly be good for America. From Wikipedia:

A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.

A cult of personality is similar to general hero worship, except that it is created specifically for political leaders. However, the term may be applied by analogy to refer to adulation of religious or non-political leaders.

Generally, personality cults are most common in regimes with totalitarian systems of government, that seek to radically alter or transform society according to revolutionary new ideas. Often, a single leader becomes associated with this revolutionary transformation, and comes to be treated as a benevolent "guide" for the nation, without whom the transformation to a better future cannot occur. This has been generally the justification for personality cults that arose in totalitarian societies of the 20th century, such as those of Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

The criticism of personality cults often focuses on the regimes of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, CeauÅŸescu, Kim Il-sung, and Kim Jong-Il. During the peak of their regimes, these leaders were presented as god-like and infallible. Their portraits were hung in homes and public buildings, with artists and poets legally required to produce only works that glorified the leader. Other leaders with such cults include Eva Peron of Argentina and her husband Juan.

SCOTUS Tells Obama To Produce Birth Certificate | The Right Perspective

SCOTUS Tells Obama To Produce Birth Certificate | The Right Perspective: "Lawyer Philip Berg’s lawsuit questioning Barack Obama’s “natural born” status has entered a do-or-die phase after the Supreme Court has ordered the president-elect to produce his birth certificate by December 1st.

Berg, who appealed his case of America’s highest court, was told by Justice David Souter’s Clerk that his petition for an injunction to stay the November 4th election was denied. The Clerk also required the defendants (Obama, the DNC, and FEC) to respond to the Writ of Certiorari by December 1. At that time, Obama must present an authentic birth certificate to the Court, which has been sealed by Hawaii governor Linda Lingle. Berg will get to respond afterwards.

Failure to do that will surely inspire the skepticism of the Justices in Obama, who are not used to being defied. The Court will have to decide what to do about a president-elect who refuses to prove his natural-born citizenship."

My question is this: should Mr. Obama fail to produce the birth certificate as required, what will the Supreme Court do? Will they invalidate the election results? Will they disqualify Mr. Obama, or invalidate his candidacy? Would those moves elevate Joe Biden to the position of President-elect? Or will the highest eligible vote getter (John McCain) be declared the winner?

This could get very interesting.

What Is Up With This???

President ElectI have two observations about this picture. First, what is up with this podium sign? The Office of the President Elect? You're kidding me, right? I don't recall ever seeing a President-Elect of the United States of America with a podium sign meant to make him look Presidential. But what else can we expect of someone who had his own Presidential-style seal made to be used during the campaign?

My second observation: The President-Elect of what? If he were to have such a Presidential looking podium sign, shouldn't it include the phrase of the United States of America? Why would the Country be completely left out of the equation? Is it that the United States of America is nothing more to Mr. Obama than a tool to achieve the power he so desperately desires? I fear that Mr. Obama is going to be a self-centered, narcissistic (redundancy intended) individual who expects the country to serve him rather than him serving the country.

Oh, and one more observation: notice how the word PRESIDENT is in a larger font than the word ELECT? Kind of the way OBAMA was bigger than BIDEN on all those campaign signs. Why? Because Mr. Obama clearly puts himself first, above all things.

None of this should surprise us, really. After all, Mr. Obama had to remind himself in his first press conference today that the United States only has one President at a time, and right now, that man is George W. Bush.

This man is forcing me to break my moratorium on political writing during the rest of November, as I promised on Wednesday. I really should be working on my NaNoWriMo project.

Ask Mitch McConnell to Accept Lieberman Into GOP Caucus

Independent Senator Joe Lieberman from Connecticut has been a faithful supporter of John McCain throughout the Presidential campaign, because he put the needs of his Country over partisan politics. Senate Majority Leader (and Democrat) Harry Reid, angered by Senator Lieberman's support of John McCain, has threatened to throw Lieberman out of the Democrat caucus and strip him of his committee chairmanships.

Senator Lieberman is in talks with Senate Minority Leader (and Republican) Mitch McConnell about joining the Republican caucus in the Senate. This would reduce the lead the Democrats have in the Senate, as well as reward Senator Lieberman for standing up for his country in support of John McCain.

Call, write, or email (or better yet, do all three) Senator McConnell and ask him to accept Senator Lieberman into the Republican caucus!

Senator McConnell:

I am a registered Republican in the state of YOUR STATE HERE who supported John McCain for President. I am concerned with the results of the Presidential election, and am writing you to ask you to please stand up to the Democratic domination in Washington immediately by accepting Senator Joe Lieberman into the GOP Caucus.

Senator Lieberman has been a loyal supporter of John McCain, putting the needs of his country ahead of the desires of his party. When Senator Lieberman appeared at campaign stops around the country with John McCain, thousands of other Republicans cheered him on as a great American who serves his country first.

Senator Reid is now threatening to eject Senator Lieberman from the Democratic caucus. This is the GOP's opportunity to reduce the liberal leadership in Washington by one and to reward a great American who had shown fierce loyalty to our candidate for President.

Please embrace Senator Lieberman as a member of the Republican caucus!

Thank you for your humble service to this country.

My Predictions for the Next Four Years

McCain / PalinShould Barack Obama fulfill four years as President of the United States, I believe we're going to see some interesting and some very troubling things throughout his Presidency. These are my predictions:
  • Republicans will regain control of the Senate in a huge landslide in 2010. The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives will narrow so much (in 2010) as to make it an insignificant majority.
  • Barack Obama will make several token appointments (or offers of appointments) to Republicans and/or Independents in an attempt to cross party lines (thinking of the 2012 re-election campaign). Most (if not all) of those bi-partisan appointments will resign before the midterm elections.
  • Barack Obama will speak about making amendments to the Constitution early in his Presidency. Congress might even concur and support prior to midterms, but the states will not vote to ratify.
  • Barack Obama's first budget proposal will include federal funding for stem cell research, federal funding to help unwed mothers pay for abortion procedures, federal funding to schools for sex education programs and contraception programs (he'll describe it as a program intended to reduce teen pregnancy) as well as contraception programs for low income women.
  • Obama's tax cut plan for the middle class will be lost among tax increases to fund increased spending and his plan to increase taxes on the wealthy to provide credits to the poor. The middle class will never see a tax cut under an Obama Presidency.
  • We will find ourselves in an energy crisis similar to the Carter years, as Obama will refuse to drill offshore, will tax coal companies into near oblivion, and the country's reliance upon foreign oil will become crippling.
  • America will return to an Affirmative Action state, with preferential employment for blacks and hispanics mandated and enforced through tax credits and penalties. Whites will begin to become the oppressed class.
  • Obama will push legislation providing even more protection to the credit unworthy than the Community Reinvestment Act. This plan will include protection for credit card borrowers, added mortgage protection for struggling homeowners, and socialized medicine. If acted upon before the midterm election, the bill will see several rewrites in both houses of Congress and the final version will include protection from credit card debt, mortgage debt, and medical debt, but will fall short of instituting socialized medicine.
  • Early in an Obama administration, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will announce her resignation. With a Democrat controlled Congress, Obama will nominate an extreme liberal to replace her on the bench, and Congress will confirm her nomination (yes, a woman, and likely a black or hispanic woman) quickly. Justice John Paul Stevens will either die or fall seriously ill and be forced to retire from the bench, resulting in a second speedily confirmed Obama liberal to the bench. The repercussions will be felt for decades.
  • The now liberal government will attempt to prosecute President Bush and Vice President Cheney for war crimes.
  • As more states enact legislation legalizing gay marriage, the Supreme Court will refuse to hear suits to ban it, resulting in gay marriage sweeping the nation on the state level. I would expect to see additional vacancies to the Supreme Court result in more liberal appointments and further Court action to legalize gay marriage on a national level.
  • Private schools and home schooling will suffer greatly under the weight of mandated sex education, to include mandated education that homosexuality is normal and okay. Home schoolers will go underground and faith based private schools will be forced to comply or be shut down. Public education will become over-crowded due to the lack of private schools and home schooling issues, resulting in poor education across the country.
  • Obama will attempt to fulfill his campaign promise on the Iraq war and will attempt to withdraw troops within 17 months. The progress of redeployment will be halted as terrorist elements will stage a dual attack on American troops in Iraq and on American soil. Obama will be forced to return redeployed troops to the region to restabilize Iraq and the middle east, and will order National Guard units to deploy on American soil in response to the attacks here. Martial Law will be all but officially declared in the new ground zero.
  • I do have a prediction about Obama's promise to meet without preconditions with leaders of Iran, North Korea, etc., but I think it prudent to exclude that prediction from this article for now.
I could go on and on, but it will only begin to sound more spectacular. I think we will see much more than we can even imagine at this point in American history. Most importantly, after the Republicans resume some parity (and possibly control) in Congress, we will see a Republican President returned to the White House in 2012. Much of the damage caused by an Obama administration will take several decades to reverse as a liberal Supreme Court will continue to legislate their liberal agenda from the bench.

It will be at least a generation before we see one party control of the Executive and Legislative branches again.

God Bless America (please). We are going to need it!

Early Results Favor Obama

Early ResultsMcCain / PalinEarly results in the Presidential race do not look good. It is still very early, and just an hour ago CNN projections had John McCain in the lead, so things can change any way at any time. It's far too early to call the entire race, and it's too early to call most of the states.

The map above shows projected wins and leads as of 8:30 PM on Election Day. The dark red and blue are projected wins by CNN, while the light red and blue are current leads based on precincts reporting.

Polls are still open in most west coast states, Alaska and Hawaii. Now is the time for Republican voters who haven't voted to get out to the polls and cast their votes for John McCain. If you haven't voted yet, please don't hesitate any longer. I'll be posting an article later of my predictions of what the country can expect to see over the next four years should Barack Obama win the Presidency. I can tell you now, it isn't pretty. In fact, it's pretty scary.

The Case Against Early Voting

McCain / PalinNow that the first polls will be closing in less than an hour, here are my thoughts on early voting. It isn't smart voting. It isn't a wise program. Why?

Imagine casting your vote for the candidate of your choice roughly a month before election day. Let's say that neither candidate is quite what you would choose, but you choose the lesser of what you consider to be two evils. I'm not saying that's the case this election cycle, just an example. So you've made your choice based on who you think will do the least harm to the country. Faced with reports of expected record turnout and long lines at the polls, and quite possibly the prospect that your employer won't afford you the time off to vote on election day, you decide to cast your vote early.

Then, two weeks before election day, two weeks after you cast your early vote, an "October surpise" comes out -- serious allegations of misconduct committed by your candidate. Documented evidence is uncovered that the candidate you cast an early ballot for very likely is guilty of something that you find extremely offensive.

Now what? It's too late for you to change your vote. It's too late for you to decide that your "lesser of two evils" was actually the greater of two evils. Even though election day is still two weeks away, it's too late for you to make a fully informed voting decision.

This has no bearing at this point on today's election. And I admit that the scenario above is quite extreme. However, it is not at all implausible. Stranger things have happened (remember 2000?).

It is for this reason that I think early voting should be eliminated. I am fully in favor of the original system of absentee ballots, which allowed any citizen to request a ballot and cast their vote in advance of election day if they were not able to be in their precinct to cast a ballot in person on election day. In fact, the first ballot I ever cast was by absentee while serving in the U.S. Army. Absentee ballots are essential, and used to be controlled and used only for verifiable absentee reasons.

Early voting? It's a sham! Why do you think Barack Obama invested so much time and energy in encouraging voters to vote early for him? Because once cast, an early ballot cannot be undone. Should we have actually learned the truth (as I suspect it) about Barack Obama, or identified his culpability in ACORN voter fraud, or discovered that his birth certificate was indeed a forgery, it would be too late for you to change your vote. What then? You either voted for a criminal in the White House, or should he have been removed from the ballot, you voted for Joe Biden. Neither option, to me, is attractive.

I encourage you, fellow Americans, not to fall prey to the sham of early voting in future elections. Your vote is a valuable asset that should not be taken lightly. Don't take the chance of throwing it away by casting it early.

Vote With Your Mind, Not Just Your Heart

I VotedIndiana polls opened at 6:00 this morning, and I headed out the door at 6:10 to go cast my ballot. I arrived at the polling location just three minutes later (it's just around the corner), and had to park at the Doctor's office across the street because the school parking lot was full and cars were already lined up along the street.

I crossed the street and joined the long line of voters waiting in the parking lot. The line stretched outside the door, down the side of the building, across the parking lot, and began to wrap back around the parking lot. Several minutes after joining the line, the line was relocated to run along the back side of the building instead of across the parking lot where cars couldn't get through.

After waiting twenty minutes in line, a poll worker came outside to announce that voters from my District could go inside and begin voting. There were apparently two Districts voting at the same location, and the bulk of the turnout was for the other District. Several of us walked around the line and entered the school, walked across the gym to our District polling area, and joined a much smaller line.

McCain / PalinIn less than ten minutes, I had ballot in hand, cast my vote for John McCain, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, Greg Zoeller for Indiana Attorney General, Tony Bennett for Superintendent of Public Instruction, Gabrielle Campo for U.S. Congress, and others.

I have been a voter for two decades and have never had to wait in line to vote like I did today. This will surely be recorded as a record turnout in America. What does this say of our political climate today? I think it says that one side of the population wants to be a part of history while the other side wants to make sure that history doesn't stand in the way of what's best for the country. That's my view, anyway, and probably the view of most voters who cast their ballots similar to mine.

History is a great thing. Being a part of history is a great thing. America is absolutely ready for the first Black (or is African-American the politcally correct term these days) or first female in the White House. More importantly, America is ready for the right person in the White House, and I encourage all Americans to cast their vote with their mind, not their heart.

From the Indiana Rally for Senator John McCain

The John McCain rally today at the Indianapolis International Airport was incredible! Thrown in at the last minute (Friday, actually), Senator McCain squeezed a rare stop in Indiana into his already busy schedule for the last day before the election. After volunteering to make calls for the campaign over the weekend, I left work early today, picked up the family, and headed to the rally.

We had VIP tickets for the event, which turned out to be unnecessary. Whoever did the planning for VIP ticketing needs their head examined. From what I could tell, the only benefit to having a VIP ticket was being able to sit down rather than stand throughout the event. The VIP seating was behind the stage where Senator McCain spoke, and from what I could see, he didn't turn once while speaking to acknowlege the VIPs behind him. Luckily, my wife caught on to this before the event began -- before any dignitaries arrived even -- and we gave up our VIP status to join the standing throng in front of the stage, where we had a great view of Senator McCain and the other speakers throughout the event.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard got the show started while the crowd waited for the arrival of Senator McCain's Straight Talk Express, followed by Greg Zoeller, current Chief Deputy to the Attorney General and candidate for Attorney General, and Dr. Tony Bennett, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction. The three presented a strong, united front for the Repbulican party and for Senator McCain.

The surprise of the evening for many was the appearance of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels at the rally. Indiana's most successful, most popular, and arguably best Governor in the state's history signed autographs for the crowd before taking the stage to make some brief remarks and introduce Cindy McCain. There has been much speculation surronding the Governor's conspicuous absence from recent Sarah Palin events in the state, and the Governor's appearance today was a welcome relief that he stands united with Senator McCain for a strong America.

The Republican throng standing on the tarmac at the International Arrivals gate went wild at the first sign of Governor Daniels and started chanting "Our Man Mitch, Our Man Mitch." Governor Daniels is running for reelection this year, and frankly I don't know how he could possibly be defeated. Unfortunately, he has declared that this is the last time he will run for public office, quashing any hopes that he might ever run on a national ticket.

As Senator McCain's Straight Talk Express flew over the crowd coming into the airport, the crowd rose in uproar (unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of the flyover). Everyone turned as the aircraft taxied in behind us, hoping for a glimpse at their hope for the next President of the United States. As a throng of Secret Service Agents and media flowed from the tail of the plane, the crowed waited eagerly for a look at their hero. When Senator Joseph Lieberman, not Senator McCain, exited the plane, the crowd cheered approval at the attendance of Senator Lieberman at the event.

Governor Daniels was joined on the stage by Senator Lieberman and Florida's Republican Senator, Mel Martinez, who apparently joined Senator McCain during his earlier stop in Florida. Also in attendance was Senator Lindsey Graham, Cindy McCain, and the Senator's daughter Meghan.

When Senator McCain entered the stage, the crowd again was in an uproar, chanting "USA" and "John McCain" while the Senator waited for things to quiet down before approaching the podium.

The moment was electric. If you've never been to a political rally such as this one -- for any candidate -- you are missing something that everyone with even the slightest interest in politics should experience. Being there in person was nothing like watching the video played through over and over and over by the talking heads on the cable news networks. Senator McCain was bigger than life addressing the faithful in attendance today, and there was no mistaking their love and respect for their candidate.

I was not originally a supporter of Senator McCain in the early stages of the campaign, when there were some six or eight Republican candidates to choose from. You can search the site archives to see which Republican candidate(s) I supported before Senator McCain, but since the nomination and the GOP Convention, I have come to admire Senator McCain for the American hero that he is.

It is my sincere belief that Senator McCain has never intentionally deceived the American people. I believe he has always been straightforward with voters and has never backed down from his position on the issues. Senator McCain is the strongest candidate going into tomorrow's elections, and America will be a much stronger, better nation with John McCain in the White House than with the alternative.

Which brings me to one more comment before inserting some video from today's rally. There are a few third-party candidates on the ballot in several states tomorrow. And I know that they each have their following of loyal supporters. I have one observation I would like to share with my readers who support third-party candidates.

It is an unfortunate fact that your candidate cannot win the election tomorrow. As much as America should be beyond a two-party system, we are not, and only the two major party candidates have any real chance of winning tomorrow. I admire you for standing up for your beliefs in support of your chosen candidate. However, think of this: when you go into the polls tomorrow and cast your vote, no one knows for whom you are voting. You can cast your vote for John McCain and still say you supported your candidate, because you have been so outspoken in favor of him throughout the campaign. Yes, you can vote for John McCain and still support your candidate. Or, you can cast a vote for your third-party candidate, who doesn't stand a chance of winning, and essentially be supporting Barack Obama. Because a vote for a third-party candidate is a vote for Barack Obama, just as a vote for Ross Perot in 1992 was a vote for Bill Clinton. If your candidate wasn't running, and you had to vote for one of the two major party candidates tomorrow, for whom would you vote? I appeal to you, vote tomorrow as if there were only two candidates, and cast your vote for John McCain. You won't regret it.
