How Republicans Voted on Troop Pull-Out

It should be known which Republicans crossed the aisle IN
SUPPORT OF a bill that would have set a deadline for troop
withdrawal from Iraq. The bill was defeated, but four Republicans
supported it.

From MSNBC News:

"Republicans were mostly unified in their opposition to
sidetrack the legislation, with four exceptions. Three Republican
-- Sens. Gordon Smith of Oregon, Olympia Snowe of Maine
and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska -- announced previously they
support setting a deadline on the war. Sen. Susan Collins,
R-Maine, WHO IS UP FOR RE-ELECTION NEXT YEAR, also voted
to advance the bill."

No surprise that running for re-election might prompt a
politician to take the safer stance of supporting withdrawal.
