Joel C. Rosenberg: Rosie and the Pope

JOEL C. ROSENBERG: MSNBC: ROSIE, THE POPE AND THE EPICENTER:
"Rosie O'Donnell declared this week that 'radical Christians' are as dangerous as 'radical Muslims.' The Pope, meanwhile, declared this week that radical Islam is 'evil' for trying to force people to follow Mohammed or be killed by the sword. Christians were understandably disappointed by Rosie, yet no violent protests have resulted so far as I know. Radical Muslims, on the other hand, are on a rampage, rioting throughout the Islamic world and even burning the Pope in effigy."
You know, I've never thought much of Rosie O'Donnell. I've never taken her seriously, and I don't believe anyone should. She started her path to fame as a stand-up comedian turned host of a show on then-fledgling music channel VH1. With an occassional movie stint on the way, she found stardom through her on talk show, before coming out of the closet, starring on Broadway, and becoming an adoptive "mother" with her "partner." Most recently, she's become the latest addition to The View, though I strongly suspect they won't keep her around for long.

So what can she possibly know about religion? I mean, to say that radical Christians (whatever, exactly, she means by that I don't know) are as bad as radical Muslims, she must know absolutely nothing about religion. She obviously doesn't know the difference between a Christian and a Muslim. Maybe she should crawl back into her closet and come back out when she has a clue.
